Independence Day

As Sri Lankans, many public holidays are celebrated by us. But among them, we consider one public holiday as one of the most important holiday. That day is independence day. This independence day falls on 4th of February every year. All Sri Lankans celebrate this day as one body. Actually people don't think about their religion race or anything in celebrating this special day. They all unite under one flag with the propose commemorating this day.

Many year ago, our country was invaded by some foreign nations. They come to this country to exploit the wealth, production, prosperity of this country. After they caught the power of the country, our people had to live according to their governance. They damaged the long standing tradition and culture of this country. Further, they harassed Buddhist hugely. They took away the crops and the other production of us. Our Sinhala innocent people were considered as their slaves. Fortunately, some Sinhala, Muslim and Tamil leaders arose against this injustice. They provided their leadership for the independence struggle. They wanted to regain the lost national glory. In the independence struggles, our hearos, ancestors sacrificed their lives in winning this freedom. They didn't give up their effort through obstacles came.

Finally our national hearos could release this country from their grasp. When it comes to the commitment and courage of them, they are immortal in our hearts forever. ❤️💐 So, as greatful Sri Lankans, we pay our gratitude to those hearos by commemorating their noble sacrifice. The government plays the main role in commemoration the national hearos.

Every year the main celebration is held at the Galle Face under the state patronage. On that day, our three forces march, mirroring their military strength. In addition to that, prisoners are released by the government, making the independence. Except that, ordinary people involve in religious observances to pay their respect to their hearos. In my opinion, if we can live under one flag without causing problems, it will be the highest respect for them. ❤️🇱🇰🙏
